OPEN CLASS BUCKET CALF SHOW --

awarded and two trophies sponsored by Keith Klimesh
NOTE: This
department is not limited to 4-H and FFA youth. It is open to all youth, ages
preschool to 3rd grade. No pre-entry is required.
This department
will be judged before the start of the 4-H and FFA Dairy Show
- Entries
must have calved after March 1, 2008.
- Limit is one entry per exhibitor. Entry for
this show will be taken at the Emmett Wilson Arena prior to the show.
Livestock show coordinators will take entries for this department prior to
the show.
- All calves shown in this department must be
unique to this department. This means any calves shown may not compete in
any other department, including any in the junior achievement show, and
vice versa.
- Calves may be either crossbred, straight bred,
dairy or beef.
- All bucket calves will be shown at halter. The
superintendent may divide or combine entries depending on total entries.
- Judging will be based on the following:
- What the exhibitor has learned about
the care and raising of the calf.
- The fitting and showing (according to
breed guidelines) of the calf with emphasis on what the exhibitor
learned.
- The general health and appearance of
the calf and the exhibitor's knowledge in the health area.
- The exhibitor's observations and
comments on raising bucket calves.
- Calves will not be stalled during the Fair.
Exhibitors must present their entry for judging at the time and day
specified. Entries will be allowed to return to the exhibitor's home
immediately after the conclusion of the show.
