In order for dogs to be eligible to
participate in show they must have a chain choke collar
with a 2 inch
give and a 6 foot lead.

1.
All dogs must
have distemper and rabies shots. Exhibitor must have proof of up to date
vaccinations at show time to be eligible to participate in show.
2.
Entries are open
to purebred or mixed breed dogs and may or may not be owned by the exhibitor.
But in all cases, the dog is to have been trained, cared for and managed by the
exhibitor.
3.
Exhibitor may
have only one entry in an obedience class.
4.
Exhibitor will
wear 4-H shirt and long pants for show and closed toed shoes.
5.
Judge reserves
the right to dismiss a dog from the show ring if it is limping or in distress
or exhibits aggressive behavior.
6.
A judge’s
decision is final. There will be absolutely no parental participation in the
judging.
7.
Exhibitors must
have participated in obedience training to participate in show.
8.
An exhibitor who
does not receive a qualifying score may remain in the same class for the
following year.
The
only exception to this is for Pre-Novice A exhibitors
who must advance to Pre-Novice B the next year.
LOT 1 - Pre Novice A - For dogs and exhibitors in their first year of 4-H dog obedience
training. Dogs will heel, stand for examination
and do the figure 8 all on leash.
They
will recall on leash and do sits for one minute and downs for three minutes on
leash. Dog must not have finished
their third leg toward any CD degree.
LOT
2 - Pre Novice B - For exhibitors who
are in their second year or greater of dog obedience or for exhibitors who have
not achieved a qualifying score in Pre Novice A or for first year project
exhibits who have achieved a qualifying score in a non 4-H dog obedience show
or have a dog with previous experience.
Dogs
will heel, stand for examination and do figure 8 all on leash. They will recall on leash and do long sits for one minute and long downs for three minutes on
leash. Dogs must not have finished any leg towards any CD degree.
LOT
3 - Novice A - For exhibitors in
second year or greater of dog obedience who have achieved a qualifying score in
a 4-H dog obedience show in a Pre Novice A or Pre Novice B class. A qualifying
score is not required to advance to this class. Dogs entered in this class may not be
entered in LOT 1 or
LOT 4 - Novice B - For exhibitors who have achieved a qualifying score in Novice A. Dogs will
heel and do figure 8 on leash and heel off leash, stand for examination off
leash, recall off leash, do long sits for one minute and downs for three
minutes off leash. This class is
open to dogs that have not completed their third leg toward any CD degree.
Dogs
entered in this class may not enter in LOT 1, LOT 2 or
Open
to dogs that do not have any CDX degree.
Dogs
entered in this class may not be entered in
CLASS 2 – AGILITY
CLASS 3 - TOP HANDLER -All exhibitors are automatically placed in this
class and participation in this class is optional. This class is based on the age and grade
of the handler. Judging will be by using the following Showmanship Card: Exhibitor appearance and attitude 15
points, Dog Grooming and condition 25 points; Handling 30 points, Questions 30 points. Total 100 points.
Knowledge of your breed of dog, health, care
and feeding are all topics exhibitor needs to be familiar with. Ribbon Awards that will be given are top
junior handler,
top
intermediate handler and top senior handler.
