2007 MIGHTY HOWARD COUNTY FAIR

4-H and FFA BEEF SHOW

 A steer weighing in at 1386 lbs shown by Rueben Sprung from the Riceville FFA was named the Grand Champion Beef at the 2007 Mighty Howard County Fair.

The Reserve Champion was also shown by Rueben Sprung. Rueben’s market heifer weighed in at 1354 lbs.  Rueben’s market heifer was also named Champion Market Heifer.

Others placing in the market heifer class were:  Troy Klimesh, Fifth Red; Camille Dohlman, Third Blue; Cory Reicks, Sixth Red and Second blue; Troy Klimesh, Fourth Blue. 

Market steers were shown by the following: 

Market steers weighing from 952 to 1142 lbs were shown by:

Kyle Drilling, Fifth place red; Jessica Curtis, Fourth place blue; Camille Dohlman, Second Place blue; Tyler Klimesh, First place blue; Wes Dohlman, Third place blue.

Market weights from 1182 to 1224 were shown by:

Tyler Klimesh, First place blue; Troy Klimesh, Third place blue; Wes Dohlman, Fourth place blue; James Gragert, Second place blue.

Market Steers weighing from 1240 to 1386 lbs were shown by: 

James Gragert, Third place blue; Cory Reicks, Fifth place blue; Brian Eastman, Fourth place Blue; Carmen Dohlman, Second place blue; Rueben Sprung, First place blue.

Rate of Gain was won by Cory Reicks with his market steer having a rate of gain of 3.53 lbs. per day.  Second place was Rueben Sprung with his steer having a rate of gain of 3.23 lbs. per day. Third Place was Troy Klimesh with his steer having a rate of gain of 3.21 pounds per day.

Commercial Breeding Heifers  were shown by:

Shay Peckham, 1 year to 30 months old, Red.

The Grand Champion Breeding Heifer was shown by Carrie Dohlman. The Reserve Champion Breeding Heifer was shown by Kendal Quandahl.

Senior Showmanship was won by Tyler Klimesh, Diligent 4-H Club.  Second place in Senior Showmanship was Carmen Dohlman.   

Junior Showmanship was won by Michael Langum of Howard Center Stars 4-H club.  Second place to Jessica Curtis, Howard Center Stars 4-H Club.

Winners Class Showmanship was awarded to Tyler Klimesh, Diligent 4-H Club.

The beef show was judged by Chad Young from Hampton, Iowa.
